Who should get it

New Platinum Travel applications are paused on the India product page. Existing cardholders receive 10,000 milestone MR at ₹4 lakh and a ₹20,000 Taj voucher at ₹7 lakh eligible annual spend under the current programme.

The card suits users who can use those milestones and meet the quarterly lounge spending requirement. Transfer partners and voucher values must be checked in the India Membership Rewards catalogue; spending beyond milestones earns 1 MR per ₹50 on eligible purchases.

Reward exclusions

Transactions that do not earn Membership Rewards points

Eligibility follows the merchant category code and transaction data received by the issuer, so the merchant name alone may not determine whether a transaction earns rewards.

  • Fuel and insurance payments
  • Household electricity, gas and water utilities
  • EMI selected at a merchant website or payment terminal
  • Cash advances, foreign-exchange purchases and balance transfers
  • Card fees, interest and other account charges

The household-utilities exclusion is separate from telecom services. Spending that earns no base points may be treated differently for milestones; check the card’s milestone terms.

Membership Rewards value depends on the India account catalogue and the redemption selected. Check the current voucher price, transfer ratio, availability and fees before redeeming; no fixed rupee value or global-market transfer ratio is guaranteed.

Which airlines can I transfer Amex India points to?

Airline and hotel transfers are available through the India Membership Rewards catalogue. Confirm the current India partner, ratio and minimum in your signed-in account before transferring; the public global transfer page defaults to US terms and cannot certify India availability. Transfers must go to your own registered loyalty account and cannot be reversed.

Does Amex Platinum Travel include lounge access?

From 1 October 2026, 2 domestic visits per quarter require prior-quarter spending. For October–December 2026, the threshold is ₹70,000 spent in July–September; later quarters require ₹1 lakh in the preceding quarter. International lounge visits are not complimentary.

Is Amex widely accepted in India?

Acceptance is strong online and at organised retail in metros, weaker at small offline merchants. Most members pair Amex with a Visa/Mastercard for universal acceptance — the milestones don't need every spend, just ₹7 lakh a year routed thoughtfully.
