Who should get it

This card is covered for existing holders. SBI discontinued new issuance on 10 October 2024, so this page is not an invitation to apply for a new card.

The useful comparison is annual fee versus the Air India miles you can actually redeem. Airline points are not fixed-value cashback, and award taxes and availability affect their value.

Use the revised earning from 31 March 2025. Older marketing that promises 15 or 30 points per ₹100 on Air India tickets is superseded.

Reward exclusions

Transactions that do not earn Rewards

Eligibility follows the merchant category code and transaction data received by the issuer, so the merchant name alone may not determine whether a transaction earns rewards.

  • Cash advances, balance transfers, fees and financial charges
  • Wallet loads; Flexipay and merchant EMI
  • Rent MCC 6513 and government/tax MCCs 9399/9311

New issuance closed; 31 March 2025 earning revision takes precedence over older pages. Historical welcome benefits are labelled. Exact lounge entitlements and later account communications must be checked by existing holders.

Can I apply for the Air India SBI Platinum now?

No. SBI says new issuance was discontinued on 10 October 2024. Use this page to understand an existing card and contact SBI for account-specific servicing.

Are Air India bookings still eligible for the old accelerated rate?

No. From 31 March 2025 the relevant accelerated rate is 5 RP per ₹100, subject to eligible booking channels and bank terms.

Are Maharaja Points the same as cashback?

No. The transfer is 1:1, but the value depends on the flight award, availability, fees and the airline programme.
