Most of us already make the same payments every month.

We buy groceries, order food, shop online and scan QR codes at stores. Sometimes we also purchase an Amazon voucher because the money will eventually be spent there anyway.

SalarySe Level UP rewards these familiar transactions differently. It gives you a small return on ordinary days and a much higher return on the first and last day of the month.

You don’t need to spend more. You need to choose when and how you pay.

The monthly playbook looks like this:

Spend ₹5,000 on normal dates. Then route ₹15,000 through SalarySe UPI on the first or last day of the month.

The free virtual card gives 5% on the Salary Day portion. The paid physical card gives 7.5%.

Here is how the complete strategy works.

Meet SCoins, the currency behind the card

SalarySe does not credit rewards directly in rupees. It gives you SCoins.

Five SCoins are worth ₹1.

Once you know this conversion, the reward programme becomes easier to understand.

SCoins earnedValue in your pocket
1 SCoin per ₹1000.2%
5 SCoins per ₹1001%
10 SCoins per ₹1002%
25 SCoins per ₹1005%
37.5 SCoins per ₹1007.5%

The free virtual card earns 25 SCoins per ₹100 on Salary Days. That is worth ₹5 for every ₹100 spent.

The paid physical card earns 37.5 SCoins per ₹100. That is worth ₹7.50 for every ₹100 spent.

The rest of the strategy is about unlocking these two rates.

Act One: The ₹5,000 unlock

Imagine your new billing cycle has started.

Over the next few days, you spend ₹2,000 on groceries and ₹3,000 on an Amazon voucher.

Your total spending reaches ₹5,000.

None of these transactions happened on the first or last day of the month. That is important because SalarySe requires at least ₹5,000 of spending on non-Salary-Day dates before it unlocks the Salary Day Bonus.

If all transactions are eligible, they earn 5 SCoins per ₹100.

Your ₹5,000 produces:

  • 250 SCoins
  • ₹50 of value
  • An effective return of 1%

More importantly, it opens the door to the higher Salary Day reward. This can be tracked on app.

What if you don’t naturally spend ₹5,000?

This is where gift vouchers become useful.

Suppose you have completed only ₹3,000 of regular spending and the end of the month is approaching. You are still ₹2,000 short of unlocking the bonus.

You could make an unnecessary purchase. Or you could buy a ₹2,000 voucher for something you already use.

That might be:

  • Amazon Pay
  • Amazon Shopping
  • Groceries
  • Food delivery
  • MakeMyTrip
  • Fashion
  • Entertainment

The voucher completes your ₹5,000 requirement, but the money remains available for a future purchase.

A voucher is useful only when it replaces an expense you would have made anyway. A ₹5,000 voucher that sits unused in an account is not a reward strategy. It is simply ₹5,000 moved from your bank account into a closed ecosystem.

A small but important ₹2,000 rule

You may have heard that SalarySe transactions need to be above ₹2,000.

That is not the complete rule.

Transactions below ₹2,000 at small offline merchants receive only base rewards. They may earn 1 SCoin per ₹100, worth 0.2%, instead of the accelerated or Salary Day rate.

The rule does not automatically apply to every online or voucher transaction.

Consider these examples:

TransactionLikely treatment
₹1,500 at a small offline merchantBase rewards
₹2,000 at an eligible offline merchantAccelerated rewards may apply
₹1,500 eligible online purchaseNot automatically downgraded
₹1,500 eligible online voucherNot automatically downgraded
₹5,000 eligible online voucherAccelerated rewards may apply

When paying a small offline merchant, keeping the transaction at ₹2,000 or above is the safer approach.

For online shopping and voucher purchases, the merchant category and payment route matter more.

Act Two: Salary Day arrives

The last day of the month is here.

You have already completed the ₹5,000 requirement. Now you can use the Salary Day Bonus.

SalarySe recognises two Salary Days:

  • The first day of every calendar month
  • The last day of every calendar month

You can spend up to a combined ₹15,000 on these dates and receive the special rate.

The word “combined” matters.

You do not receive the bonus on ₹15,000 on the last day and another ₹15,000 on the first day. The maximum eligible Salary Day spending is ₹15,000 per billing cycle.

SalarySe UPI is the doorway

Suppose you stand at a supermarket checkout and scan its QR code using Google Pay.

The transaction may work, but you will not receive the Salary Day Bonus. Payments made through another UPI application receive the base reward rate.

To receive the higher reward, you must pay through SalarySe UPI.

The same rule applies everywhere:

  • At a physical store, scan the QR through SalarySe.
  • At an online checkout, choose UPI and complete the payment through SalarySe.
  • For a voucher purchase, generate the QR code and scan it through SalarySe.
  • Confirm that the Level UP card is selected as the payment source.

The merchant must also accept RuPay credit-card payments through UPI. A merchant accepting ordinary bank-account UPI does not automatically mean it will accept a RuPay credit card.

The easiest way to use the ₹15,000 allowance

Some people naturally spend ₹15,000 on the first or last day. Most do not.

You might have ₹4,000 of groceries and another ₹2,000 restaurant bill. That leaves ₹9,000 of the Salary Day allowance unused.

A useful voucher can fill the gap.

You can purchase vouchers from:

  • SalarySe
  • Amazon
  • GyFTR
  • Another eligible voucher platform

Amazon Pay and Amazon Shopping vouchers are often the easiest because many households already spend money on Amazon, recharges or supported bill payments.

The exact voucher you choose should reflect where your money already goes.

Buying a voucher through SalarySe

If SalarySe lists the voucher you need:

  1. Open the voucher section.
  2. Select the brand and denomination.
  3. Review its validity and usage conditions.
  4. Pay through the supported SalarySe payment journey.
  5. Save the order confirmation.

Some vouchers may be available at a small discount, giving you an additional layer of savings.

Buying directly from Amazon

Amazon may also allow you to purchase an Amazon Pay, Amazon Shopping or hundreds of other useful vouchers listed on amazon through UPI.

The flow is simple:

  1. Select the voucher.
  2. Choose UPI during checkout.
  3. Complete the payment through SalarySe.
  4. Ensure the Level UP card is selected.

Amazon Pay and Amazon Shopping vouchers are not the same.

Amazon Pay vouchers can have broader usage across supported payments like paying insurance, electrical bills, mobile bills, fastag and so many other categories.
Amazon Shopping vouchers are generally meant for shopping on Amazon.

Always check which one you are purchasing.

Buying through GyFTR

GyFTR can be helpful when it creates a UPI QR code.

Open GyFTR on a computer or another phone. Select the voucher, choose UPI and generate the QR code.

Then:

  1. Open SalarySe on your primary phone.
  2. Scan the GyFTR QR code.
  3. Select the Level UP card.
  4. Complete the payment.

The first time you try a new voucher platform, purchase the smallest available denomination. Wait for the statement and confirm the correct SCoins before attempting a ₹15,000 transaction.

The free-card outcome

Let us return to our monthly story.

You completed ₹5,000 of eligible spending on normal dates. Then you spent ₹15,000 through SalarySe UPI on Salary Day.

With the lifetime-free virtual card:

SpendingReward rateValue
₹5,000 on normal dates1%₹50
₹15,000 on Salary Day5%₹750
₹20,000 total4% blended₹800

The ₹15,000 Salary Day portion earns 5%.

When the ₹5,000 unlocking requirement is included, your total monthly value is ₹800 on ₹20,000 of spending. That is an overall return of 4%.

The paid-card outcome

Now imagine the same month with the physical plus virtual card.

The ₹5,000 normal spending still earns ₹50. The difference appears on Salary Day.

The physical card earns 37.5 SCoins per ₹100, worth 7.5%.

SpendingReward rateValue
₹5,000 on normal dates1%₹50
₹15,000 on Salary Day7.5%₹1,125
₹20,000 total5.875% blended₹1,175

The same spending now generates ₹1,175 instead of ₹800.

That is ₹375 of additional monthly value.

The virtual card is suitable if you want a lifetime-free UPI card or don’t expect to use the entire ₹15,000 Salary Day allowance.

The physical card works better when you can follow the strategy consistently. Its additional reward can recover the annual fee quickly.

Act Three: The double dip

Now suppose you need to book a trip.

A MakeMyTrip voucher is available at a 10% discount on Amazon. Instead of purchasing the voucher on a random date, you buy it through SalarySe UPI on Salary Day.

You may receive two benefits:

  • The voucher discount
  • The Salary Day reward

With the virtual card, the Salary Day portion can return 5%. With the physical card, it can return 7.5%.

The same principle can work with discounted Amazon, grocery, fashion or food-delivery vouchers.

Before purchasing, read the voucher conditions. A discounted voucher may:

  • Expire within a few months
  • Exclude certain products or bookings
  • Require full redemption in one transaction
  • Restrict the number of vouchers per order
  • Prevent combination with another coupon
  • Become non-refundable after purchase

A 10% discount loses its value if it forces you to pay a higher price elsewhere or prevents you from using a better coupon.

Spending beyond ₹20,000

SalarySe also gives super-accelerated rewards on eligible regular spending above ₹20,000 in a billing cycle.

The rate is 10 SCoins per ₹100, worth 2%.

Only the additional amount above ₹20,000 receives this rate.

If you spend ₹30,000 on eligible regular purchases:

Spending portionReward rateValue
First ₹20,0001%₹200
Next ₹10,0002%₹200
₹30,000 total1.33% blended₹400

The first ₹20,000 remains at 1%.

Salary Day transactions form a separate reward category. The same transaction cannot receive both the Salary Day Bonus and super-accelerated rewards.

Where the strategy does not work

Some transactions receive only base rewards of 1 SCoin per ₹100, worth 0.2%.

These include:

  • UPI payments made through another UPI app
  • Rent
  • Railways
  • Insurance
  • Education
  • Government services
  • Contracted services
  • Agriculture services
  • Tolls and specified transport transactions
  • Telecom
  • Post-office payments
  • BillPay
  • Transactions below ₹2,000 at small offline merchants

Other transactions receive no rewards:

  • Cash withdrawals
  • Wallet and specified service-provider transactions
  • Fuel and auto transactions
  • Quasi-cash transactions
  • Gambling transactions

These categories should not form part of your ₹5,000 unlocking plan or ₹15,000 Salary Day strategy.

The statement-day ritual

The SCoins do not appear immediately. They are credited after the monthly statement is generated.

When your statement arrives:

  1. Open the SalarySe reward history.
  2. Check the SCoins earned on normal spending.
  3. Check the separate Salary Day Bonus.
  4. Confirm that only ₹15,000 received the higher rate.
  5. Save screenshots if anything is missing.
  6. Pay the complete statement balance by the due date.

If rewards are missing, check the transaction date, payment application and merchant category before raising a complaint.

Spend the rewards before they disappear

SCoins expire 18 months after they are earned.

You can redeem them through SalarySe for:

  • Gift vouchers from more than 200 brands
  • Cash conversion, when available
  • Merchant offers
  • Other redemption options listed in the app

There is little benefit in allowing a large SCoins balance to sit untouched. Voucher prices and redemption options can change.

Earn them, verify them and redeem them for something useful.

Your monthly SalarySe calendar

The complete strategy can fit on a small note:

Normal dates

  • Spend ₹5,000 on eligible purchases.
  • Use natural expenses first.
  • Purchase useful vouchers if required.
  • Avoid base and restricted categories.

First or last day

  • Open SalarySe UPI.
  • Spend up to ₹15,000.
  • Use regular merchant payments first.
  • Purchase useful vouchers for the remaining amount.
  • Stop once the combined Salary Day spending reaches ₹15,000.

After the statement

  • Check the SCoins.
  • Redeem them before they expire.
  • Pay the complete bill.
  • Repeat only after confirming that the transaction route worked.

One month, two numbers

If you remember only two numbers, remember these:

₹5,000 to unlock.
₹15,000 to maximise.

Complete ₹5,000 of eligible spending on normal dates. Then route up to ₹15,000 through SalarySe UPI on the first or last day.

The virtual card can generate ₹800 of total monthly value from the ₹20,000 strategy.

The physical card can generate ₹1,175.

You are not changing what you buy. You are placing planned spending inside the right payment window, using SalarySe UPI and filling any shortfall with vouchers you will genuinely use.

That is the entire playbook.
