International spends usually feel like a trade-off: card convenience on one side, forex markup on the other. Visa Power Travel changes that equation for Indian Visa cardholders by adding a separate reward layer on top of regular card rewards.

For travellers who already think carefully about reward points, forex markup and redemption value, this is one of the rare overseas-spend offers worth planning around.

Update: Visa has expanded the campaign. The live Visa Power Travel site now lists Australia, Japan, Nepal and Sri Lanka in addition to the earlier countries. Eligible spends in these destinations can also earn the base reward, and the extra 10% layer is available through Google Pay / Samsung Pay Tap to Pay and Klook where applicable.

The campaign is valid from 20 April 2026 to 30 September 2026, or until reward stock lasts, whichever happens earlier.

The Core Offer

Visa Power Travel applies to Indian-issued Visa consumer cards used in these eleven countries:

Eligible Country
Australia
France
Japan
Nepal
Sri Lanka
Singapore
Thailand
United Arab Emirates
United Kingdom
United States of America
Vietnam

The offer has three reward layers.

Reward LayerWhat You Earn
Base reward0.5%
Extra reward on Tap to Pay or Visa partners10%
Jetsetter milestone bonus₹10,000 on ₹1,00,000 spend + 20 eligible transactions

The maximum total reward is capped at ₹50,000 per eligible card for the campaign.

Rewards are redeemable as Amazon vouchers or Air India vouchers in blocks of ₹1,000.

What Changed in the Expansion?

The biggest change is the destination list. The campaign now covers Australia, Japan, Nepal and Sri Lanka as well. The live campaign site shows these four new destinations alongside France, Singapore, Thailand, UAE, UK, USA and Vietnam.

The extra 10% reward path also becomes very simple in the new countries:

Newly Added CountryExtra 10% Route Shown on Campaign Site
AustraliaGoogle Pay / Samsung Pay Tap to Pay + Klook
JapanGoogle Pay / Samsung Pay Tap to Pay + Klook
NepalGoogle Pay / Samsung Pay Tap to Pay + Klook
Sri LankaGoogle Pay / Samsung Pay Tap to Pay + Klook

That means travellers to these countries should think of the campaign in two layers: use Tap to Pay for normal in-person spends wherever accepted, and use Klook for eligible attractions, tours and experiences where pricing makes sense.

The Reward Math

The headline says “up to 20%”, but the first ₹1 lakh can actually work out slightly better if structured correctly.

Assume you spend ₹1,00,000 in eligible countries, complete 20 eligible transactions, and all spends qualify for the extra 10% layer through Tap to Pay or Visa partner merchants.

ComponentCalculationReward
Base Visa reward0.5% of ₹1,00,000₹500
Extra Visa reward10% of ₹1,00,000₹10,000
Jetsetter milestoneOne-time bonus₹10,000
Total Visa reward₹20,500

That is 20.5% value back from the Visa campaign alone.

After the first ₹1 lakh, the milestone bonus is already used on that card. Further eligible Tap to Pay or partner spends on the same card earn 10.5% from Visa: 10% extra reward plus 0.5% base reward.

Should You Chase the ₹50,000 Cap on One Card?

The campaign cap is ₹50,000 per eligible card, but that does not mean your best strategy is always to push one card up to the cap.

The richest part of the offer is the first ₹1,00,000 of optimized spend on an eligible card, because that is where all three layers stack.

Spend on One Eligible Visa CardVisa Reward
₹1,00,000 spend + 20 transactions₹20,500

After that, the same card has already used its one-time Jetsetter milestone. Additional Tap to Pay or partner spends on that card earn 10.5%, not 20.5%.

So if you have multiple eligible Visa cards, the smarter sequencing may be to unlock the first ₹1 lakh slab on each card before trying to max out one card.

StrategySpendVisa Reward
Card 1: ₹1,00,000 + 20 transactions₹1,00,000₹20,500
Card 2: ₹1,00,000 + 20 transactions₹1,00,000₹20,500
Total₹2,00,000₹41,000

Compare that with using only one card for ₹2,00,000:

StrategySpendVisa Reward
Card 1: first ₹1,00,000₹1,00,000₹20,500
Card 1: next ₹1,00,000 at 10.5%₹1,00,000₹10,500
Total₹2,00,000₹31,000

That is a ₹10,000 difference simply because the second card unlocks a second Jetsetter milestone.

In short: do not blindly chase the ₹50,000 cap on one card if another eligible Visa card can unlock a fresh ₹10,000 milestone bonus.

How Much Spend Hits the ₹50,000 Cap on One Card?

If you still want to understand the single-card cap math, here it is.

If every rupee of spend qualifies for the extra 10% layer:

Spend SlabReward RateReward
First ₹1,00,00020.5%₹20,500
Next approx. ₹2,80,95210.5%₹29,500
Total approx. ₹3,80,952₹50,000

So roughly ₹3.81 lakh of optimized spend can exhaust the full ₹50,000 campaign cap on one eligible Visa card.

What Counts as Eligible Spend

Eligible spends include:

  • In-person POS purchases in the eleven eligible countries.
  • ATM withdrawals in the eleven eligible countries.
  • Spends at listed Visa partner merchants.
  • Tap to Pay spends through Google Pay or Samsung Pay.

However, ATM withdrawals should be treated carefully. While they may earn the base 0.5%, credit-card cash withdrawal fees, interest and cash advance charges can easily destroy the value.

The important rule: for the Jetsetter milestone, you need ₹1,00,000 spend across 20 eligible transactions, excluding ATM withdrawals.

The 10% Extra Reward Rule

You earn the extra 10% when you do either of the following:

  1. Use Tap to Pay with your eligible Visa card via Google Pay or Samsung Pay in the eligible countries.
  2. Spend at selected Visa partner merchants using your eligible Visa card.

If you Tap to Pay at a Visa partner merchant, you do not get 10% twice. The extra reward is credited only once for that transaction.

This is the most important practical point of the campaign. The offer is not about the card network alone; it is about transaction routing.

Country-Wise Guide

Australia

Australia is now part of Visa Power Travel. The campaign site shows Google Pay and Samsung Pay Tap to Pay as payment partners, and Klook as the attraction partner.

Best strategy: use Tap to Pay for everyday spends wherever accepted, and use Klook for tours, attractions and experiences when the price is competitive.

France

France has a clean structure: Google Pay / Samsung Pay Tap to Pay plus Klook.

Best strategy: use Tap to Pay for regular spends wherever accepted. Use Klook for attractions, tours and experiences when pricing is reasonable.

Japan

Japan is now included. The campaign site shows Google Pay and Samsung Pay Tap to Pay, plus Klook as the attraction partner.

Best strategy: use Tap to Pay for convenience store, retail, dining and local spends where accepted. For attractions and day trips, check Klook before booking.

Nepal

Nepal is now included, with Tap to Pay through Google Pay / Samsung Pay and Klook shown as the attraction partner.

Best strategy: use Tap to Pay where available, but do not rely on acceptance everywhere. Klook can help with planned experiences, while smaller local spends may still need backup payment options.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is now included. The campaign site shows Tap to Pay via Google Pay / Samsung Pay and Klook for attractions.

Best strategy: use Klook for tours and activities where possible, and use Tap to Pay for hotels, dining and retail wherever accepted.

Singapore

Singapore remains the strongest country in this campaign because it has the widest partner list.

CategoryPartners
AttractionsKlook, Resorts World Sentosa, Skyline Luge Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Oceanarium, Universal Studios Singapore
RidesGrab
ShoppingLotte Duty Free, Mustafa Centre and Mustafa Jewellery
Wallet routeGoogle Pay, Samsung Pay Tap to Pay

Best strategy: Singapore is ideal for completing the 20-transaction milestone. Use Tap to Pay for everyday spends, Grab for rides, Klook for experiences, and eligible attraction partners for tickets.

Thailand

Thailand is also highly usable because the offer covers rides, duty-free shopping, groceries and attractions.

CategoryPartners
AttractionsKlook, Safari World Bangkok
ShoppingKing Power, Gourmet Market
RidesGrab
Wallet routeGoogle Pay, Samsung Pay Tap to Pay

Best strategy: use Grab for rides, Tap to Pay for dining and shopping, Klook for tours, and King Power for airport purchases if pricing makes sense.

United Arab Emirates

The UAE partner list is shorter but practical.

CategoryPartners
AttractionsKlook
RidesBolt
Wallet routeGoogle Pay, Samsung Pay Tap to Pay

Best strategy: use Tap to Pay wherever accepted. For attractions and activities, compare Klook pricing before booking. Bolt rides can help increase transaction count.

United Kingdom

The UK has Klook plus Tap to Pay.

CategoryPartners
AttractionsKlook
Wallet routeGoogle Pay, Samsung Pay Tap to Pay

Best strategy: Tap to Pay is widely accepted, so the UK can be very strong even with a smaller merchant partner list.

United States of America

The USA has Klook plus Tap to Pay.

CategoryPartners
AttractionsKlook
Wallet routeGoogle Pay, Samsung Pay Tap to Pay

Best strategy: use Tap to Pay wherever accepted. For attractions, city passes and experiences, check Klook.

Vietnam

Vietnam has Klook plus Tap to Pay.

CategoryPartners
AttractionsKlook
Wallet routeGoogle Pay, Samsung Pay Tap to Pay

Best strategy: use Klook for tours and attractions where available. Tap to Pay acceptance may vary by city and merchant, so do not depend entirely on wallet acceptance for all transactions.

Important Exclusions

Online spending is generally not eligible unless it is on the portal, webpage or app of a specified Visa merchant partner.

Prepaid online hotel bookings are not eligible unless the booking is directly through a Visa merchant partner channel.

Cancelled, reversed, returned, refunded, disputed or unsuccessful transactions do not count.

Transactions must be fully posted and processed through VisaNet.

Transaction date is based on VisaNet settlement posting date, not necessarily the date you made the purchase.

Rewards may appear with a delay. Rewards are also subject to availability and redemption quotas, so redeeming early is sensible.

Example Using HDFC Infinia Visa

This is only an example. The Visa campaign reward is separate from HDFC’s own reward structure.

AssumptionValue

Effective return: about 21.47%.

If HDFC Global Value Program is active, there may be an additional 1% cashback subject to its cap and terms. On ₹1 lakh, that can add up to ₹1,000, taking the example to roughly ₹22,473, or 22.47%.

Example Using Axis Atlas Visa

Again, this is only an example of stacking. The Visa campaign reward is separate from Axis Atlas rewards.

Book1A Playbook

StepAction
1Register your eligible Visa card before spending
2Use Card 1 for ₹1,00,000 eligible spend
3Ensure at least 20 eligible transactions on Card 1
4Prefer Google Pay or Samsung Pay Tap to Pay
5Use listed Visa partner merchants where practical, especially Klook in the newly added countries
6If you have Card 2, repeat the ₹1,00,000 + 20 transaction structure there
7Avoid ATM withdrawals unless absolutely necessary
8Avoid paying in INR abroad; pay in local currency
9Track reward posting and redeem in ₹1,000 blocks

The sweet spot is the first ₹1,00,000 of properly structured spend on each eligible Visa card. That is where the base reward, 10% extra reward and ₹10,000 milestone all stack together.

For larger trips, do not think only in terms of one card’s ₹50,000 cap. Think in terms of how many eligible Visa cards can each unlock the high-value first ₹1 lakh slab.

Final Word

Visa Power Travel is not a generic international-spend offer. It is a routing offer.

The card matters, but the transaction type matters more. A normal eligible swipe may earn only 0.5% from Visa. A Tap to Pay or partner transaction can earn 10.5%. The first ₹1 lakh on an eligible card, if structured across 20 transactions, can earn ₹20,500 from Visa alone.

With the expansion to Australia, Japan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, the campaign is now far more useful for common Indian travel routes. The simple rule is: register before travel, use Tap to Pay deliberately, check Klook for attractions and experiences, complete ₹1 lakh plus 20 transactions on one eligible Visa card, then move to another eligible Visa card if available. Redeem early, because rewards are subject to availability.
