Axis Bank Credit Card Changes Announced on 28th July 2026: Every New Rule, Card by Card
Axis Bank is changing a large part of its credit card ecosystem again.
This is not one isolated devaluation. It is a multi-stage revision affecting cards from NEO and IndianOil to ATLAS, Magnus, Reserve, Olympus, Primus and Burgundy Private.
The first rules take effect on 28 August 2026. More changes follow on 1 September, 1 October, 1 November and 15 November 2026.
Instead of making you jump between fee changes, lounge rules and reward exclusions, this guide is organised card by card. Find your card below and you will see every announced change in one place.
Source note: Every change below has been checked against the official notices hosted on Axis Bank's axis.bank.in domain. Links to all thirteen documents are provided at the end.The 30-Second Summary

1. Burgundy Private - The One Card
The biggest headline number in this revision belongs to Burgundy Private.
Effective 28 August 2026
Payments towards your outstanding balance will be adjusted in this order:
- Fees and charges, including taxes
- EMIs
- Interest charges
- Purchase transactions
- Cash advances
Priority Pass will no longer work at domestic airport lounges in India. For domestic lounges, present Burgundy Private - The One Card with your boarding pass. Continue using Priority Pass with your boarding pass at eligible international lounges.
Lounges located after immigration at Indian international terminals are treated as international lounges.
Effective 1 September 2026
The card remains complimentary for Burgundy Private clients maintaining a Total Relationship Value of ₹5 crore and above, excluding demat holdings.
If qualifying TRV falls below ₹5 crore, the revised annual fee becomes:
₹1,00,000 + GST
The fee was previously ₹50,000.
Axis will check TRV for the month before the card-anniversary month and charge the applicable fee during the anniversary month.
This is too large a fee to discover after billing. If you hold Burgundy Private, check your qualifying TRV well before the assessment month.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships linked to the card will renew only after you provide explicit consent. Axis says it will share the consent process closer to the renewal date.
2. Axis Bank PRIMUS Credit Card
PRIMUS receives one of the lightest updates in this batch.
Effective 28 August 2026
- Card payments follow the revised order: fees and taxes, EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.
- Priority Pass will no longer work at domestic airport lounges in India.
- Present the PRIMUS Credit Card and boarding pass for eligible domestic lounges.
- Continue using Priority Pass and your boarding pass at eligible international lounges.
The PRIMUS notice does not announce a DCC change, revised late-payment fee, gift-card exclusion, toll exclusion or consent-based membership renewal.
3. MAGNUS for BURGUNDY Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 2%.
- The late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300 for outstanding balances of ₹50,000 and above.
- Card payments follow the revised adjustment order.
- Gift-card purchases remain outside rewards and fee-waiver calculations.
- Gift cards move from the wallet category to a separate “Gift card” category.
- Bridge fees, road fees and tolls stop earning rewards.
- Priority Pass will no longer work at domestic airport lounges in India. Use the MAGNUS for BURGUNDY card with your boarding pass instead.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships will renew only with explicit consent.
The main practical change is the higher DCC cost. Always choose the merchant's local currency instead of INR at an international terminal.
4. Axis Bank MAGNUS Credit Card
The MAGNUS changes mirror those on MAGNUS for BURGUNDY.
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 2%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and fee-waiver calculations.
- Gift cards get their own transaction category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
- Priority Pass stops working at domestic airport lounges in India. Present the MAGNUS card and boarding pass instead.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships will renew only after explicit consent.
These changes do not destroy MAGNUS, but they make overseas INR billing and excluded transactions less forgiving.
5. Generic Changes: All Other Axis Bank Credit Cards
Axis Bank has issued one generic revision for cards that do not have a separate card-specific notice in this round of changes.
This section covers ATLAS, Horizon, Flipkart, ACE, Rewards, Google Pay Flex, Airtel, Cashback, MY ZONE Easy, IndianOil Easy, Privilege Easy, AURA, IndianOil Premium, Pride Platinum, Pride Signature, Flipkart Super Elite, SpiceJet Voyage Black, SpiceJet Voyage, Samsung Signature, Fibe, Shoppers Stop, Miles & More, Freecharge, Freecharge Plus, LIC Signature, LIC Platinum, Kwik, Vistara, Vistara Signature and Vistara Infinite.
Axis does not name these cards individually in the generic document. They are grouped here because they appear in Axis Bank's current credit-card catalogue but do not have separate 28 July 2026 campaign notices. Any product-specific rule that is more favourable or more restrictive may continue to apply alongside the generic revision.
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300 for outstanding balances of ₹50,000 and above.
- Payments follow the revised order of fees and taxes, EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.
- Gift-card purchases will not earn rewards or cashback.
- Gift cards will not count towards fee waivers or milestone benefits, where applicable.
- Gift cards move from the wallet category to a separate “Gift Card” category.
- Bridge fees, road fees and tolls stop earning rewards or cashback.
For users of these cards, the DCC increase is the most immediate cost change. If an overseas terminal offers to bill in INR, choose the local currency.
6. Axis Bank OLYMPUS Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup is revised to 1.8%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and move into their own spend category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
- Priority Pass stops working at domestic airport lounges in India. Use the OLYMPUS card and boarding pass instead.
The OLYMPUS notice does not say “from 1.5%” when announcing the 1.8% DCC rate. The safe conclusion is simply that 1.8% becomes the applicable DCC rate from 28 August 2026.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships will renew only with explicit consent.
7. Axis Bank RESERVE Credit Card
RESERVE does not receive an announced DCC revision in its card-specific notice.
Effective 28 August 2026
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and fee-waiver calculations.
- Gift cards move from the wallet category into their own category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
- Priority Pass stops working at domestic airport lounges in India. Present the RESERVE card with your boarding pass instead.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships will renew only after explicit consent.
The absence of a DCC change in this notice does not guarantee that no other fee schedule can apply. It only means this revision document does not announce one.
8. Axis Bank SELECT Credit Card
SELECT receives the most layered devaluation in this round.
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards, fee waivers and milestones.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
- Priority Pass stops working at domestic airport lounges in India. Present the SELECT card and boarding pass instead.
Effective 1 October 2026
The ₹3 lakh anniversary-year milestone continues to unlock:
- Six additional international lounge visits
- Six additional golf rounds in the same anniversary year
- Priority Pass renewal for the next anniversary year
However, non-rewarding categories will no longer count towards the ₹3 lakh threshold.
Axis lists insurance, rent, fuel, education, utilities and telecom, wallets, gold and jewellery, government services and gift cards.
This changes the milestone from a test of total card spend into a test of eligible retail spend.
Effective 1 November 2026
The District buy-one-get-one movie offer requires ₹25,000 of settled spend in the previous three calendar months.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships will renew only with explicit consent.
9. Axis Bank PRIVILEGE Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards, fee-waiver calculations and milestones.
- Gift cards move into a separate category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
Effective 1 November 2026
The District buy-one-get-one movie benefit requires ₹25,000 of settled spend during the previous three calendar months.
If you keep PRIVILEGE mainly for its movie benefit, this rolling threshold materially changes the card's usefulness.
10. Axis Bank MY ZONE Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and milestone benefits.
- Gift cards move into a separate category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
Effective 1 November 2026
The District buy-one-get-one movie benefit requires ₹25,000 of settled spend during the previous three calendar months.
MY ZONE remains useful only if you can meet that threshold through natural spending. Chasing ₹25,000 of spend for a lifestyle perk rarely makes sense.
11. Axis Bank NEO Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and move into a separate category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
Effective 1 November 2026
The BookMyShow buy-one-get-one offer requires ₹25,000 of settled spend during the previous three calendar months.
This is a substantial gate for an entry-level lifestyle card. Do not manufacture spending simply to unlock the offer.
12. IndianOil Axis Bank Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and fee-waiver calculations.
- Gift cards move into a separate category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
Effective 1 November 2026
The card's 10% BookMyShow instant discount, capped at ₹100, requires ₹25,000 of settled spend in the preceding three calendar months.
Spending ₹25,000 to unlock a discount capped at ₹100 is unlikely to justify changing your natural spending pattern.
13. Samsung Axis Bank Infinite Credit Card
Effective 28 August 2026
- DCC markup rises from 1.5% to 3.5%.
- The top late-payment fee becomes ₹1,300.
- The revised payment-adjustment order applies.
- Gift cards remain excluded from rewards and fee-waiver calculations.
- Gift cards move into a separate category.
- Bridge, road and toll spends stop earning rewards.
- Priority Pass stops working at domestic airport lounges in India. Present the Samsung Infinite card with your boarding pass instead.
Priority Pass remains the credential for eligible international lounges, including qualifying lounges located after immigration at Indian international terminals.
Effective 15 November 2026
Complimentary memberships will renew only with explicit consent.
Important Rules Shared Across Multiple Cards
The gift-card wording remains unclear
Axis says gift-card purchases will “continue to be excluded” from rewards and fee-waiver calculations.
There is an important ambiguity here. In practice, gift-card transactions do not appear to be consistently excluded today. The wording may therefore signal a new exclusion going forward rather than the continuation of an existing rule.
At the time of writing, even Axis Bank has not been able to provide a clear explanation. Until transactions after 28 August appear on actual statements, treat gift-card rewards, milestone credit and fee-waiver eligibility as uncertain.
How the ₹25,000 movie threshold works
The new movie-offer threshold applies to SELECT, PRIVILEGE, MY ZONE, NEO and IndianOil.
- Newly issued cards get a waiver for the month of issuance and the next three calendar months.
- A card upgrade does not count as a new issuance.
- An additional card issued alongside an existing card relationship is treated as a new issuance.
- Only settled transactions from the preceding three calendar months count.
- Settlement can take up to five working days.
- Refunds, reversals, interest, fees and other bank dues do not count.
- For EMI purchases, only the instalment billed during the relevant statement cycle counts.
Do not wait until the last day to cross ₹25,000. A transaction that settles late can miss the eligibility window.
Revised late-payment slabs
The following slabs apply to the eleven affected cards covered above:
| Outstanding amount | Late-payment fee |
|---|---|
| Below ₹500 | Nil |
| ₹501 to ₹5,000 | ₹500 |
| ₹5,001 to ₹10,000 | ₹750 |
| ₹10,001 to ₹50,000 | ₹1,200 |
| ₹50,000 and above | ₹1,300 |
The official notices use “₹50,000 and above” in the text but “above ₹50,000” in the table. To stay safe, assume ₹1,300 can apply once the outstanding reaches ₹50,000.
What Should Axis Cardholders Do Now?
- Find your card above and calendar every applicable date.
- Choose local currency overseas. DCC is not the same as the normal forex markup.
- Recalculate SELECT milestones using eligible spend only.
- Track settled three-month spend if you depend on a movie offer.
- Stop expecting rewards on toll-related spends on the affected cards.
- Use the Axis card for domestic lounges and Priority Pass for eligible international lounges.
- Review Burgundy Private TRV before the anniversary assessment.
- Pay the total amount due. Late fees are only one part of the cost of revolving a balance.
Final Verdict
Axis is not dismantling its credit card ecosystem in one dramatic move.
It is tightening it card by card.
Premium users need to pay closer attention to lounge credentials, membership consent and DCC. SELECT users face tougher milestone mathematics. Movie benefits on PRIVILEGE, MY ZONE, NEO and IndianOil become much harder to unlock. Burgundy Private users face the most serious financial consequence if they miss the TRV condition.
The right response is a simple card audit:
- Which benefit do you actually use?
- Can you meet its new condition naturally?
- Are excluded transactions weakening your fee waiver or milestone?
- Does the card still justify its place in your wallet?
Axis still has one of India's broadest credit card portfolios.
From late August 2026, extracting value from it will demand more attention than before.
